Fashion is a term used interchangeably to describe the creation of clothing, footwear, accessories, cosmetics, and jewellery of different cultural aesthetics and their mix and match into outfits that depict distinctive ways of dressing (styles and trends) as signifiers of social status, self-expression, and group belonging. As a multifaceted term, fashion describes an industry, styles, aesthetics, and trends.

- Women were only allowed to wear shorts publicly after World War II. One main reason for this was that less fabric was available during the war, so shorts were more cost-effective than pants or skirts.
- The loincloth is the oldest item of clothing. The skirt is the second oldest item of clothing.
- Up until the 19th century, clothes were not showcased by models; instead, fashion companies used dolls.
- The word "gymnos" means "naked" in Greek, which gives us our word "gym" or "gymnasium" because Ancient Greeks used to exercise naked.
- Queen Victoria was the first to wear a white wedding dress. Before this, white had been used as a color of mourning.
- In the year 200, the Romans created different shoes for the left and right feet.
- In the original Cinderella story, the glass slippers did not exist. Instead, her shoes were made of fur, but the story was changed in the 1600's and included the new and now-famous glass slippers.
